City Education Partners is a non-profit dedicated to groundbreaking public schools for San Antonio children. We bring together school system leaders, philanthropy, and community members to create new model public schools, train future education leaders, and learn together in this work.

In support of this vision, we invest in districts, public charter schools, teacher preparation programs, and nonprofits all of which are on the cutting edge of innovation for serving our urban children. Further, we directly support entrepreneurial school leaders in designing and launching new schools through EdLaunch210, we provide our school system leaders with teacher recruitment support through Educate210, and we work with families navigating the school selection process through San Antonio School Finder.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Seat Investments, the director will be responsible for the management of CEP’s EdVent210 and EdLaunch210 fellowships that support entrepreneurial school leaders in the design and launch of innovative school models in San Antonio’s urban core.  The fellowship is centered on the primary component of community co-design and includes supports in finance/operations, authorization, and governance. Having supported two cohorts of EdLaunch and one cohort of EdVent, the organization is at an inflection point where we need a leader to significantly redesign and improve the programming.  The director will be accountable for between three and five school founders annually, that aspire to deliver radically different results for our most educationally underserved students.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Recruitment/Selection of School Leaders

  • Recruit leaders with strong instructional backgrounds that want to launch autonomous schools aligned to CEP’s values

  • Create a strategy for the development of a future pipeline

  • Refine and execute selection process ensuring community alignment and support throughout

2. Develop and Execute on Incubation Year Programming and Supports

  • Create Incubation Year Programming focused on equity and community co-design that prepares school founders for successful school authorization and launch

  • Conduct regular needs assessments and design customized oversight that supports each school’s progress

  • Frequently analyze school founders’ progress to launch and adjust plan, coaching and supports as necessary

  • Research and aggregate best practices aligned to a variety of school models. Stay abreast of the latest findings in education and bring relevant, helpful ideas and context that may help accelerate their progress

3. Oversee Operations for Fellowships

  • Coordinate consultants and programming providers to ensure alignment and desired outcomes

  • Manage funds that each fellow is awarded and create reconciliation reports monthly

  • Communicate progress to the CEP team and other key stakeholders


  • Deep commitment to and enthusiasm for City Education Partner’s mission of ensuring students within San Antonio’s urban core have access to high-quality educational options

  • Ability to develop cohesive programming designed to help leaders launch autonomous schools

  • Strong ability to identify high-quality instruction, talent, and models

  • Strong ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders

  • At least five years of experience in the education, public policy, non-profit leadership or a related field, including a track record of driving exceptional results

  • Capacity to work both independently and in collaboration with a strategically focused team

Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree preferred.


This is a full-time role offering compensation that is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, CEP provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes individual health insurance with paid time off.
